Thomas & Marie Konecky Scholarship

Thomas and Marie Konecky were married in 1959.  Marie grew up in Illinois and Tom grew up on the farm homesteaded by Tom’s grandfather and graduated from St. Wenceslaus High School.  They met at a Rural Youth County Extension Square Dance and married in 1959.  Because of their great love for Catholic education they sent their children to St. Wenceslaus Grade School and Bishop Neumann High School.  They were great supporters of Catholic education.

As dairy farmers they developed a herd of Guernsey cattle.  Both were very involved in dairy organizations.  Ultimately, they combined their love for all things dairy and for Catholic education by making ice cream for athletic events, donating all the proceeds to Bishop Neumann.  Over time a number of items from the ice cream sale were purchased for the school along with this $19,000+ endowed scholarship.

The Thomas and Marie Konecky Scholarship is established for students with financial needs attending Bishop Neumann, particularly those students with an interest in pursuing agriculture studies in college.
