About the Scholarship: The Pflanz Family Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship established with the primary aim of fostering the educational aspirations of the youth in Wahoo, Nebraska. This scholarship is a testament to the commitment of the Pflanz family to invest in the future of the community by supporting students who embody the spirit of resilience, community engagement, and determination.
Eligibility Criteria: The Pflanz Family Scholarship is open to high school seniors and college students who meet the following criteria:
- Residency: Applicants must be residents of Wahoo, Nebraska, and demonstrate a commitment to contributing positively to the local community.
- Academic Achievement: While academic excellence is valued, the scholarship committee is also interested in applicants who have shown improvement, dedication, and a passion for learning.
- Overcoming Hardship: Preference will be given to students who have faced and overcome significant challenges or hardships, demonstrating a strong spirit of perseverance.
- Community Involvement: Applicants should showcase their active involvement in community service, volunteer work, or extracurricular activities that contribute to the betterment of Wahoo and its residents.
Application Process: Interested candidates are invited to submit a comprehensive application, including:
- A Personal Statement: Highlighting personal achievements, educational goals, and the impact of overcoming hardships on their character and determination.
- Letter of Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from an individual who can speak to the applicant’s character, academic achievements, and community involvement.
- Academic Transcripts: Official transcripts demonstrating academic performance and any notable improvements.
- About You Paragraph: A brief but compelling narrative detailing why the applicant is deserving of this scholarship and a good fit for the values expressed above.
Deadline and Award: The application deadline for the Pflanz Family Scholarship is April 1st. The scholarship recipient will be announced directly to the student recipient and publicly in the graduation program. The $1,000 award will be disbursed directly to the recipient’s educational institution.
