Smart GEN Society

As a part of our Strategic Plan, SCS Administrators are making a concerted effort to equip our Catholic community to combat against the evil side of social media. Last year we lined up the “Smart GEN Society” to come and help train our students, parents, and staff on empowering smart choices in a digital world.  This year we are once again having them come to do presentations for our parents & students.  The dates and times for these presentations are listed below.  If you have children in both elementary and high school levels, we recommend attending the 7-12 Parent presentation, as this will probably be more pertinent information. Please take the time to mark these on your family calendar as we expect ALL our school families to attend.  It would be VERY HELPFUL if there were no Cavalry or Beef practices on the night of the parent presentations as this would help free up ALL parents to attend.  Attached is a short description that Smart GEN shared with us which will help give you an idea of the presentations.

Also, the following link is to a documentary titled: “The Social Dilemma”.    If you have not yet watched this or it has been some time since you viewed it, we highly encourage everyone to take the time to watch this in its entirety.  This documentary does a fantastic job of describing how social media works.  This can also be found on Netflix.
